Fiona joined Sightsavers in November 2020 as a Health Policy Advisor where she works on eye health and disability inclusion in health both within the UK development system and within the broader UN system. She currently represents Sightsavers at CONCORD, the EU NGO network and in the Action for Global Health working groups. Prior to joining Sightsavers she worked at Irish Aid on EU development policy during the pivotal negotiations on the new EU development instruments.
She joined the Action for Global Health Steering Committee in August 2021. She is also a member of the National Women’s Council of Ireland.
With a BSc in Optometry and a Masters in International Public Health, and experience working in healthcare in Ireland and on health care worker capacity building programmes Malawi, she has a unique combination of experience and knowledge. She is passionate about strengthening health systems and equity in access to healthcare.
