AfGH Launches #HealthyFutures Climate Change Campaign
Action for Global Health is delighted to launch its new #HealthyFutures Climate Change Campaign! We’re calling on the UK government to make health systems work for people and the planet.
2023 has seen the climate crisis spiral further out of control. From floods in Sudan to wildfires in Canada, natural disasters have occurred with increasing frequency, causing devastating impacts on health.
Health systems are on the front line of this crisis, and must be designed to tackle it. Yet currently, healthcare’s climate footprint is equivalent to 4.4% of global net emissions, adding to the challenge and placing even greater strain on the health sector.
The time to act is now.
Take action today by signing our letter to Secretary of State for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell, and Minister of State for Health and Secondary Care, Will Quince, to call for stronger global health systems that reduce the impact of climate change.
Then encourage your networks to do the same.
By raising the profile of this issue, we can ensure the government knows there’s no time to spare. Amplify our campaign on social media using our Toolkit to maximise the number of letters signed.
And share our existing social media content:
For the crisis to be overcome, we need urgent action. We need health systems that work for people and the planet.
